Our Team

Titan Robotics runs like a small engineering company. An Operations division keeps the team funded, connected, and out in the community, while a Technical division designs, builds, wires, and programs the robot. Every member belongs to one of seven subteams, and no experience is needed to join any of them.

Outreach subteam

Outreach

Outreach is how the team shares robotics beyond our own shop. This subteam plans and runs STEM events across Illinois, from library workshops to community demos, and prepares the kits and materials those events depend on. Members learn event planning, teaching, and public speaking while helping kids get their first taste of engineering.

Relations

Relations keeps the team connected to the people who make our season possible. Members write sponsor updates, run our social media, and represent the team when we meet companies, schools, and community partners. It is part communications and part business development, and it builds skills that matter far beyond robotics.

Finance subteam

Finance

Finance manages the budget that keeps the team completely free for every student. Members track spending through the season, plan fundraising, and work with Relations on sponsorship proposals. Along the way they pick up practical budgeting and forecasting, and learn how a real organization stays accountable for its money.

Mechanical subteam

Mechanical

Mechanical members are the builders and mechanics of our robot. Members are expected to have skills in various technical fields, not just building and assembly of the robot, and are expected to be adaptable in their thinking and work under strict time constraints when needed. Members will learn how to safely and effectively interact with the tools allotted to us in the lab, including power tools, heavy machinery, the CNC, and CAD.

Electrical subteam

Electrical

Electrical gives the robot its nervous system. Members lay out and wire motor controllers, sensors, and power distribution, keeping everything clean, labeled, and easy to service in the pits. Careful wiring is often the difference between a robot that finishes a match and one that stalls, so this subteam cares deeply about reliability.

Design Integration subteam

Design Integration

Design Integration owns the robot's full CAD model and makes sure every subsystem fits together as one machine. Members model parts, manage the master assembly, and catch collisions and clearance problems before any metal gets cut. It is the place where strategy, geometry, and manufacturing constraints all meet.

Programming subteam

Programming

Programming is responsible for writing the software behind the robot. Throughout the year, rookies are taught how to use Java and WPILib, gradually honing their skills and learning how to write code for an actual robot. Programming writes subsystem code, autonomous routines, driver integrations, and more for the robot, and verifies that the robot functions as intended.
